Reitman describes Edward Snowden as a skilled IT contractor who became disillusioned with U.S. intelligence practices after witnessing surveillance programs he believed violated civil liberties. Initially supportive of government secrecy, he later concluded that internal reform was impossible and leaked classified documents to spark public debate about privacy and government overreach.
